This product is an HWS (Heavy Weapon System) expansion set that pushes the “MG Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.Ka” even further toward heavy armor and heavy armament. It is a Premium Bandai exclusive. Each armor unit has deployment gimmicks and mechanical internal detail, and the HWS can be reproduced in Form 1 and Form 2 by swapping parts. The included “Ver.Ka” water-slide decals cover several types of markings.

The box is a simple single-color package, just as you’d expect from a Premium Bandai exclusive. Inside are the additional armor, the large Hyper Mega Shield and Hyper Mega Rifle and other weapon parts, along with a set of huge water-slide decals. The number of runners itself isn’t large, but each part is big, and once you lay them out you really feel how much mass is being added to the main body.

Build time is about 90 minutes. Difficulty is one star, and since it’s only additional armament, it’s very easy. There’s no complicated assembly like an internal frame, so the building itself moves along quickly.

In exchange, the points to watch out for are all on the finishing side.

In other words, the real event with this kit is not the “assembly” but the “finishing.” Whether or not you go in understanding that makes a big difference to how satisfied you’ll be.

The biggest highlight is the overwhelming presence and staggering atmosphere you get after applying the decals and panel lining. The heavily armored form is truly striking, and this is a kit that rewards you the more effort you put in.

On the other hand, there are points that honestly bothered me. First, the Hyper Mega Shield is simply too heavy, so the arm joints struggle to hold it, and just getting it to grip is about all you can manage. Second, in a snap-fit state (without decals or panel lining), there are a lot of plain white part surfaces, and it feels a bit underwhelming. To put it another way, if you accept that this is a kit meant to be finished, your expectations won’t be betrayed.

This is a dedicated expansion option that evolves the “MG Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.Ka” into its ultimate form. It isn’t self-contained; it shows its true value only when combined with the main body, making it a display-focused kit. Because it isn’t something that “completes on its own” like a normal standalone kit, for anyone who already owns the main body it becomes an option to take their machine up one more level.

To draw out this kit’s appeal to the fullest, “panel lining” and applying the “water-slide decals” are a must.

2. The huge Hyper Mega Shield is heavy, so when displaying it you’ll need to adjust the arm’s holding power or provide support.

Since it’s an additional-armament-only kit, the assembly itself is very easy and approachable. There are caveats — the Hyper Mega Shield is so heavy that just holding it is about all you can manage, and the bazooka and other weapons will look unbalanced unless you match their panel lining to the original body. Even so, the super-overwhelming atmosphere and heft after applying panel lining and decals are worthy of five stars, making this a thoroughly satisfying expansion set.

If you own the main body, this is a masterpiece expansion set worth picking up — you get top-class ownership satisfaction in proportion to the effort you put into finishing it. I especially recommend it to anyone who already has the MG Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.Ka, and to those who want to apply water-slide decals and panel lining and savor the presence of a super heavyweight MS at their own pace. As for display, the best approach is to skillfully adjust the angle so the arm doesn’t sag under the weight of the Hyper Mega Shield, or to make use of a stand, and show off its overwhelming density in a standing pose.
